Editor vs. Designer
Understand the difference between the simple editing tools and the advanced design workspace.
Webflow has two main tools for making changes:
The Editor
- For content updates only.
- Edit text, swap images, update links, and manage collection items.
- Simple and safe — you won’t affect the site’s layout or design.
The Designer
- For structural or design changes.
- Add new pages, reorder sections, adjust styles, or use components.
- More advanced — changes affect the overall look and layout.
Which Should You Use?
- Use the Editor for routine content updates.
- Use the Designer if you need to adjust structure or design.
How to access the Editor
- Click on the three dots underneath your project in the dashboard.
- On the pop-up menu, click on "Editor".
How to access the Designer
To access the designer simply click anywhere on the project in your dashboard.
