Types of collection fields
The different kinds of fields (text, images, links, etc.) that make up each item.
Each Collection item is made up of different fields. These fields store specific types of information — such as text, dates, images, or files — and help keep your content structured and consistent.
Below are the most common field types you may see in your site’s Collections.
Types of Collection Fields
- Plain text field — simple, unformatted text.
- Rich text field — supports formatted text.
- Click inside the field and highlight text to format (bold, italic, links, headings, etc.)
- Press Enter for a new line, then click the “+” button on the left to add lists, bullets, images, or other content.
- Image field — upload a single image. Refer to our image sizing guide for help.
- Multi-image field — upload multiple images at once.
- Video field — paste a video URL from YouTube, Vimeo, etc.
- Link field — add a URL.
- Email field — add an email address.
- Phone field — add a phone number.
- Number field — add any number (whole or decimal).
- Date/Time field — pick a date (and optionally a time).
- Switch field — yes/no toggle.
- Color field — choose a color value.
- Option field — pick from a preset dropdown list.
- File field — upload a downloadable file (PDF, document, etc.). The max file size is 10mb.

Tip
If you are ever unsurue of how to format a field (ex: word count of a text field) reference the other collection items to keep consistency.
