Adding a Domain

How to attach a custom domain to your website that you can publish on.

Before launching your website, you’ll need:

  • A custom domain (such as yourlab.org) that you own and have access to manage
  • An active paid Webflow Site Plan

Once both are in place, you can connect your domain to Webflow.

Steps to Add a Custom Domain

  1. From your Webflow Dashboard, click the three dots underneath your site and select Site Settings.
  2. Click the Publishing tab.
  3. Click Add a custom domain and enter your domain name.
Option 1: Quick Connect (Recommended)
  1. Select Quick Connect if available.
  2. Log in to your domain provider when prompted.
  3. Allow Webflow to configure the domain automatically.
Option 2: Manual Domain Connection

If Quick Connect is unavailable or unsuccessful, you can connect the domain manually.

  1. After adding your domain, Webflow will display the required DNS records.
  2. Open your domain provider in a separate tab (Namecheap, GoDaddy, etc.).
  3. Locate the DNS settings or DNS records area for your domain.
  4. Copy the DNS records shown in Webflow and recreate them exactly in your domain provider.

This typically includes:

  • A records pointing the domain to Webflow
  • A CNAME record for the www version of the domain

Copy each value carefully. Any typos will prevent the connection from working.

Verify the Connection

After saving the DNS records, return to your Webflow site settings and verify the connection.

DNS updates may take time to process. Verification can happen within minutes but may take up to 24–48 hours in some cases.

Next Step: Publishing

Once the domain status shows Connected or Verified, your domain is ready to publish.
